The one principle taught to the writers is to always make it harder for the protagonist. Usually, in most novels, this principle takes over a bit later.
In 15 Seconds, the Protagonist, a successful plastic surgeon Henry Steadman, goes through the worst possible wickedness one can imagine, right from the start. So much so that, to catch my breath, I divided reading Steadman’s earliest disasters into several days. This poor guy who becomes a wanted man was about to lose everything and he couldn’t give up either because of his kidnapped daughter.

In the story, after Steadman’s unfortunate condition was set, the antagonist was introduced. Then, the story began to disentangle and I could read the rest of the novel in about two days. The novel is intense and full of suspense throughout but the beginning makes the reader to feel for the main character, and I think this is where the novel’s success takes hold. The story also wraps up efficiently with a happy ending.

In addition to Steadman’s ordeal, cultural differences of all characters and each character’s make-up are also masterfully handled, as well as the different settings and the fantastic twists and turns. I couldn’t help but feel like applauding the research that must have gone into this novel.

Should only the outlines of the events be told, what happened to the protagonist would seem unlikely. Yet, the author’s expertise makes the story feel highly credible. At the end, one comes out believing that such misfortune can happen. Plus, the writing, use of the language, the presentation, and the sequences of the scenes also show the proficiency of this author with his calling.

Andrew Gross keeps climbing up the ladder of best murder mystery writers. The story is refreshingly new,like it really happened. In all his stories the author connects perception and reality so well it gets blurred. Excellent story teller.
OMG! Andrew Gross at his best. I thought "The One Man" was full of plots and subplots but "15 Seconds" had me biting my nails down to my elbows. Cleverly and intricately woven, each separate story found it's way to an explosive conclusion that had me spellbound.
A couple times I wanted to strangle Mr. Gross! It would get so close, then drift away! A couple of parts were really stretching it, I thought. The cops opening fire on a busy road, shooting at him. Some of the dialogue seemed to get lost in spots. Going on, and on. The repeating of the story, over and over. But a great story. What I waited for an explanation on , why did he own pain clinics.
I am an avid fan of Andrew Gross and will read absolutely everything he writes as soon as published for consumption. I would be over the moon happy and honored to someday be a beta reader for him! This plot is fantastic and is a MEGA page-turner. It's more than a thriller, it will make you tingle with excitement. Read it now!
Fast moving, eyes racing to keep up with the pace as this multifaceted story explodes with shocking twists and turns. Trouble doesn't follow Dr. Steadman...it greets him head on.. Mr. Gross has expert timiNg running through from start to finish. Every character takes shape in surroundings that are clearly described in no nonsense , clear phrasing. Thoroughly engrossing and realistic!ally intense!
I don't remember how I found this author, but he is my new favorite. I'm only sorry he doesn't have more books in paperback. I bought all of his books available in paperback on . If you like surprises and complex plots, you won't be sorry.
